My new car has very unusual windshield
wiper blades. What's up?
Many new cars built starting about 2005 have a new style of windshield wiper blades that are very different. They have no metal frame. You can tell if your new car has flex blade style wipers by lifting the wiper arm off the glass, if it hangs in a big arc and has no metal to it you have these new style of wiper blades. They are called FlexBlades, Valeo, Innovision, and Reflex to name a few. The purpose is to improve the way the windshield wiper cleans your windshield. There are many advantages to these new windshield wiper blades. (See Photos at the bottom of the page)
Advantages
1. You will not need winter blades every again.
2. They track your windshield better because they put even pressure on the windshield.
3. These new style blades will track even the curviest windshields.
4. Less wind resistance to lift them off your windshield.
5. Snow and ice will not build up in them.
6. Many can be converted from the old style wipers over to these new wiper blades.
Disadvantages
1. These new wipers cost more than the old style wipers.
2. Some new car dealers have designed them so you will have to buy from them.
3. They will last about 6 months.
